In the name of God,amen,the eleventh day of August Anno Domini,1687

I ANDREW HEWITT of Newton Arlosh in the Parish of Holme Cultrum in the County of Cumberland,yeoman,being sick in body but of good and perfect memory and remembrance ,Praised be to Almighty God for the same.Do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

Imperunis:I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker,hoping through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my saviour and redeemer to grant free pardon and forgive all of my sins and my body to be buried in Christian burial at ye discretion of my executors hereafter named.

Item;I give and bequeath unto ANDREW HEWITT my son ,one old cupboard and one bedstead in ye nooke and one in ye sun side of ye loft ,and one bedstead in the biour.

Item;I give and bequeath unto PETER HEWITT my son the sum of twenty pounds.

Item;i give and bequeath unto MARY STURDY my daughter ten shillings and to every one of her children one ewe and lamb.

Item;The rest of all my goods and chattels moveable or imoveable,whatsoever or wheresoever the same be,or may be found after my debts,legacies and funeral expenses paid and other charges.I give and bequeath unto JOHN HEWITT and PETER HEWITT my sons and I do hereby make them whole and joint executors of this my last will and testament utterly,revoking and annulling all other wills and testaments formally by me made.In witness whereof I have unto put my hand and seal the day and year above written.
