ELEANOR HEWITT 1775

ELEANOR HEWITT of Rickergate in the Parish of St Mary and County of Cumberland,spinster, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following,that is to say.I give and bequeath unto my brother WILLIAM HEWITT all my ready money and cash lent upon securities,bills,notes,bonds and mortgages upon the following trusts,that is to say.I give and bequeath unto my sister MARGERET the Wife of JOHN TOMLINSON on the interest of the sum of fifty pounds until her daughters MARY and FRANCES shall attain the age of twenty one years which said interest I order and direct the said WILLIAM HEWITT to pay yearly her yearly the first payment thereof to begin and be made at the end of twelve calendar months after my decease.And I give and bequeath unto her said two daughters MARY and FRANCES the said sum of fifty pounds as joint tenants to be paid to them by my said brother when the younger shall attain the age of twenty one years of age.Also I give unto my sisters MARY,s daughter ANN HEWITT the sum of ten pounds to be paid unto her by my said brother when she shall attain the age of twenty one years without interest to be reckoned. or counted for the same.I give and bequeath unto the five daughters of THOMAS IVESON of Cargo namely,MARGERET, MARY,HANNAH,FRANCES and ELEANOR the sum of fifteen pounds as joint tenants to be paid unto them by my said brother as and when the youngest shall attain the age of twenty one years without any interest to be reckoned,counted or paid for the same,Also I give and bequeath unto my sister MARGERET all my bed linen,household linen and my wearing apparel of what nature and kind soever.I also give and bequeath unto my said sister MARGERET,s two daughters MARY and FRANCES each of them of a feather bed,a pair of fine sheets,a bolster and two pillows and to her daughter FRANCES half dozen silver tea spoons and to her said daughter MARY half dozen coloured china tea cups and saucers.Also I give unto my said sister MARGERET the use and occupation of all my household goods and furniture not hereunto bequeathed of what nature or kind soever the same may be of until the youngest of the said daughters shall attain the aforesaid age.

I give and bequeath unto them the said MARY and FRANCES the daughters of my said sister the same household goods and furniture for ever.And all the rest of of my goods,chattles and personal estate whatsoever after payment of my just debts,funeral expense and the above legacies ,I give and bequeath unto my said sister MARGERET for ever.And my will and mind and is and I do hereby declare the same so to be that my said trustee and executors,administrators and assigns shall and may forth and out of the premises hereby bequeathed unto him,satisfy and re emburse them selves all such costs,charges and expenses as he or they shall or may bear,sustain,expend or be put unto in or about the execution or performance of the trust aforesaid and shall not be answerable or accountable for the insufficiency of my security to be taken for money ,nor shall my said trustee be liable to make the same good where the said trust,money or any part thereof be lost this lending or placing the same out of interest.And I hereby make,constitute and appoint my said brother WILLIAM HEWITT executor in trust of this my last will and testament and hereby revoking all former wills by me ,In witness whereof I set my hand and seal the ninth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred seventy four.

signed sealed and published and declared by the said testator as for and her last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witness thereunto her presence at her request and in the presence of each other.
