The Last will and testament of GEORGE HEWITT 1788
This is the last will and testament of me GEORGE HEWITT of Crofthead in the Parish of Rockcliffe in the County of Cumberland,Yeoman,first it is my will and mind and I give and Bequeath to my son WALTER HEWITT his heirs and assigns for ever all that my freehold,massauge,and tenements with the appurtenances situate and lying and being at Crofthead aforesaid in the said Parish of Rockcliffe and county of Cumberland and also all my marshlands apportions or share of the Marshland called Rockcliffe Crop Marsh and also all other my freehold lands and grounds of what nature or kind soever or wheresoever to hold to my said son WALTER HEWITT His heirs and assigns forever.Also I give and bequeath to my daughter ANN now the Widow of ANDREW LITTLE deceased the sum of two shillings in lawful money of Great Britain and to my daughter FRANCES the wife of JOHN ASKEW the sum of two shillings and to my daughter MARY the wife of JOHN TYSON the sum of one shilling of lawful money and to my granddaughter ISOBELLA HEWITT the sum of five shillings and to my granddaughter JANE HEWITT the sum of one shilling in lawful money and to my daughter JANE AGNEW now the wife of JOHN AGNEW the sum of five shillings of like lawful money and further it is my will and mind and I give and bequeath unto my Son WALTER HEWITT all my household goods and furniture and also my living and dead stock and utensils of husbandry,all which said several legacies or sums of money,I will order which shall be paid respective legacies at the end of twelve months after my decease.
And I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said son WALTER HEWITT my sole executor and residue legatee of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other will by me at any time made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three.
