Hewitt Family Wills

JANE HEWITT 1790

In the name of God ,Amen,I JANE HEWITT of the City of Carlisle in the County of Cumberland,widow,Do make this my last will and testament,I give and bequeath unto JOHN NICOLSON of the said City ,Gentlemen, his executors and administrators the sum of two hundred and twenty pounds in trust that they pay the yearly interest thereto my sister ANN MOOR,widow,for her and during the term of her natural life in four equal payments in the first year the first payment thereto be made at the end of three months next after my decease ,and that from and after the death of my said sister he and them divide the said sum equally amongst my son FRANCIS HEWITT,and my daughter JANE PALY and ANN HODSON if living but if they any of them shall not survive my said sister,his or her share to be paid to such children of them so dividing equally.

All the rest and remainder of my personal estate ,I give and bequeath to the said JOHN NICOLSON in this order as soon as may be after my decease,he convert the said unto money and pay on third part thereof to my said son FRANCIS HEWITT and one third part thereof to my said daughter JANE PALY and the remaining third part thereof to my said daughter ANN,And my will if that said son or daughter or any of them shall not survive me,thier share shall go and be paid to his or her representitive.Provided never the less and my will that if they shall happen to die before the later end of April next ensueing,the share above bequeathed of the said sum of two hundred and twenty pounds and also the said third part of the residue of my personal estate above directed to be paid to my said son FRANCIS HEWITT,but shall remain in the hand of the said JOHN NICOLSON and shall by him applied for and to the benefit of the children of my said son FRANCIS HEWITT in said manner and in such proportions as the said JOHN NICOLSON shall see proper.

And I make the said JOHN NICOLSON sole executor of this my last will and testament,Inwitness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirtieth day of March inthe year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine,
