MICHAEL HEWITT 1762

I MICHAEL HEWITT of Woodside in the Parish of Westward in the County of Cumberland,yeoman,Being of sound and proper mind and memory,Thanks be to Almighty God,I do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following,that is to say.First I do give and devise unto JOHN DAND son of my cousin MICHAEL DAND of Longhead in the Parish of Roughton in the County aforesaid and to his sons and assigns for ever,All my freehold,messuages,lands,tenaments and hereditaments with oppurtuntences situate,lying or within the Parish aforesaid and County aforesaid.Igive and bequeath unto my cousin JOHN PORTER the sum of one hundred and twenty pounds.I give and bequeath unto my nephew JOSEPH PORTER and to my nieces HANNAH PORTER,MARGERET PORTER and JANE wife of JAMES TRUSSEL and JANE or JENNET wife of JOSEPH BARNES each the sum of thirty pounds.I also give and bequeath unto my servant MARY KNOWELL the sum of five pounds and to JOSEPH LAMLEY the sum of twenty shillings.Lastly all the rest of my goods and chattels and personal estate whatsoever I do give and bequeath unto my cousin MICHAEL DAND of Longhead of aforesaid mentioned,and also male and appoint him the sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all by me formally made and declare this only to be my last will and testament.In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eight day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty one.

I MICHAEL HEWITT the testator within named do make this codicil to my last will and testament,that is to say.I give and bequeath unto ROBERT DAND and MICHAEL DAND,sons of my cousin MICHAEL DAND of Longhead each the same of one hundred pounds to be paid respectively as they attain the age of twenty one years.I domake.ordain and publish this codicil and taken for and part of my last will and testament within written.My hand and seal this fourth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two.
