SARAH HEWITT 1778

In the name of God,amen,I SARAH HEWITT of Carlisle in the County of Cumberland being of sound and disposing mind,memory and understanding do make,publish and declare this my last will,and testament in manner and form following,first I order and direct that my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied give and bequeath unto my niece MARY HODGSON of Carlisle aforesaid widow of WILLIAM HODGSON late of CARLISLE aforesaid deceased, milliner the sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain.I also give and bequeath unto the said children of MARY HODGSON twenty pounds to be equally divided as amongst them ,share and share alike and to survive amongst them in case any of them shall die before the same shall become due and payable.Also I give and bequeath to my nephew HENRY HEWITT the sum of ten pounds,also I give and bequeath unto GEORGE HEWITT,MARGERET HEWITT ,and JANE HEWITT children of my late nephew WILLIAM HEWITT and MARGERET his wife the sum of five pounds apiece all which said legacies I do order and direct and it is my will and mind shall be paid by my executor hereafter named at the expiration of twelve months after my. decease also give and bequeath unto the children of my late niece MARY PEEL the sum of ten pounds to be equally divided amongst them,share and share alike and to survive amongst them in case any of them shall die before the same shall become due and payable and it is my will and mind.And I do further order and direct that the legacies so given to the said children of my niece MARY PEEL shall be paid and payable as they the said children shall respectively survive at or attain the age of twenty one years and not before without any interest of the same.And I do hereby make and ordain ,constitute and appoint Mr JOSEPH LIDDLE of Kirk Andrews on Eden sole executor of this my last will and testament and also residual legatee of all my personnel estate and effects whatsoever after payment of my just debts,legacies and funeral expense so given and bequeathed as aforesaid hereby revoking all former and other will or wills made by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this my only to be my last will and testament.In witness hereof SARAH HEWITT have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty six.
