WILLIAM HEWITT 1720

March 14th 1720

In the name of God ,Amen,I WILLIAM HEWITT of Beaumont in the County of Cumberland,yeoman,Being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory,Praised be to Almighty God for ye same and calling to mind ye same and calling to mind my mortality of my body,do make and ordain my last will and testament as followeth.First I bequeath my soul unto ye hand of Almighty God hoping by ye merits of Jesus Christ to receive remiss of my sins and my body to ye ground to be decently buried at ye discretion of my executors.And as for ye worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bestow in this life,I give and devise of them in manner and form as following.

First I give to my eldest daughter MARY HEWITT sixty pounds.

Item:I give to my second daughter ANNE HEWITT sixty pounds.

Item:I give to my third daughter ISOBELL HEWITT sixty pounds.

Item:I give to my son WILLIAM HEWITT thirty pounds.

Item:I give to my daughter JANE BUTLER five shillings.

Item:I give to my son ROBERT HEWITT and to my youngest daughter ISOBELL HEWITT six acres of ground commonly known by the name of Beaumont Park of ye yearly free rent of 4shillings and sixpence.and also a an acre of freehold estate commonly known by the name of Barn Croft? curing such times as ye said ROBERT HEWITT and ISOBELL HEWITT shall come to ye age of sixteen years.

Item;I give to my grand daughter MARY BUTLER two shillings and sixpence.

Item:I give unto my grand daughter ANNE BUTLER two shillings and sixpence.

Item;I give to my daughter MARY HEWITT a bed and bedding of clothe.

Item:I give unto my daughter ANNE HEWITT a bed and bedding of clothe.

Item:igive unto my youngest daughter one bed and bedding of clothe,

Item: I give unto my son ROBERT HEWITT one bedding of clothe.

The rest of my goods,and chattells,moveable and imoveable I give to my eldest son GEORGE HEWITT whom I constitute and appoint ye sole executor of this my last will and testament,hereby revoking all other and former wills by me at any time made,he paying all my debts,legacies,funeral expenses.

The condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden GEORGE HEWITT executor of the last will and testament of WILLIAM HEWITT late of Beaumont,yeoman.

Do pay all his debts and legacies so far as his goods extend and the law shall bind him,if also do exhibit into the Consistory Court of Carlisle a true and perfect inventory of all and singular goods,rights,czdili?,cattel and chattel of the deceased .And do hereby make a true and just inventory all the same when he shall thereto lawfully called and moreever if need enquire enter into further bond with more sufficient securities as the Judge of this Court for the time being shall think requisite for performances of the promise and lastly shall save and depend and sharing keep the Red Father of god and the Chancellor and all other their officers and ministers this obligation whatsoever by reason of the Principles think.this obligation to be void and of now effect or shall remain in full force and dorlue?.
