1. JAMES1 DENT was born 1805 in Hutton Roof, West.. He married AGNES.

Notes for JAMES DENT:

The 1851 census shows James living in Cowan Head in the parish of Strikland Roger.

From 1861 to 1881 he is still in Cowan Head though working as a labourer in the local paper mill owned by Croppers.

Generation No. 2

2. RICHARD2 DENT (JAMES1) was born 25 March 1838 in Kendal, West., and died 04 March 1892 in Burneside, West.. He married HANNAH WALKER 26 November 1859 in St. Oswalds Church, Burneside, West., daughter of GERARD WALKER and ELIZABETH PRATT.

Notes for RICHARD DENT:

Richard started work as a rag cutter in Croppers Paper mill in Cowan Head, where he lived with his parents. By 1861 he had become a paper maker and was married with one child, Elizabeth Jane.

Sometime in the 1860's he had moved to Kings Mills near Castle Donington, Leics. where there was also a paper mill. His daughter Elizabeth was born there in 1867.

By 1869 he was living in Dartford, Kent where Richard and Rosabel were born in 1869 and 1871 respectively. Reeds paper mill is in Dartford, and it is assumed that he went there to work.

By 1874 the family were back in Cowan Head and the last 5 children were born there.
